Mechanical CAD Designer

Energy Land & Infrastructure (ELI) continues to grow and is currently seeking a responsible, highly motivated, and detail oriented individual to join our growing engineering teams in our Cary, NC office. The ideal candidate will possess experience in designing Bores, HDDs, linear pipeline, and natural gas facilities (M&R stations and above ground appurtenances). The position has opportunity for advancement for aspiring individuals willing to learn the skills and technology required to become a team leader.

Task Description

Ideal candidate would have experience working in the natural gas industry and have the ability to demonstrate a growing degree of judgement and capabilities in a team-oriented environment. Excellent communication skills are required for this position. Pro-active problem-solving skills as well as an interest in developing a knowledge of engineering principals and objectives are necessary.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Developing mechanical design using CADWorx, or AutoCAD Plant 3D
• Development of P&IDs
• Creating Billing Of Materials (BOM)
• Drawing finished designs from sketches and concepts under the direction of the Engineer
• Developing technical plans
• Reading and organizing field notes
• Providing support to the design team, productions team, and engineers with the preparation of plans for natural gas projects
• Performing routine assignments that require judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations
• Evaluating engineering alternatives and resolving technical issues
• Collaborating with team engineers, project manager, and CAD designers to ensure company standards and best practices are implemented
• Mentoring less experienced team members
• Supporting Civil production and drafting support in AutoCAD as needed

Education/Experience Qualification

• AutoCAD Civil 3D: 5+ year
• AutoCAD Plant 3D or CADWorx: 5+ year (Preferred)
• Relevant progressive experience in drafting and design
• Experience with As-Built plans
• Experience with Developing Station Layouts
• Experience with Creating general assembly drawings provided by one of our vendors
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability and willingness to learn and accept new responsibilities as experience is gained
• Ability to communicate ideas and technical information to staff, supervisors, and clients in a professional manner
• Excellent written and oral communication
• B.S. degree or 5+ experience in pipeline and facilities design in lieu of degree
• Familiarity of transmission and distribution systems in the natural gas industry
